Glimpse of the exhibition “Uni, SHE” by photographer Uma Bista, on Sunday June 2 at Image Ark Gallery, Kulimha Tole, Patan.
Here artist Uma Bista explores her creativity to make the female as a subject in her photographs inside our male dominant society. In this exhibition character SHE does not only summarized the character of female , but the photographs of UNI SHE also signifies the human aspect and behaviour of our Nepalese society where UNI SHE relates to all things around us, like the river where SHE washes her sorrow, and she never lose the hope keeping her faith, optimism and courage to flow like a river. In a white layered of clouds UNI SHE runs here and there to emphasize and dedicate her valuable time, care and love to her two families, the one where SHE was born on (maitighar), and the one whom SHE marries and where she goes after that.
SHE always remains silent, but it does not mean that SHE does not have any dream. SHE always smiles but it does not mean SHE does not suffer from stress. This exhibition truely clarifies this statement with the variation in the photograph exhibited in the exhibition as we find to see the action, satisfaction ,dedication, happiness and love of photographs of festivals, female celebrity, marriage rituals, daily life of women, old age education (praud sikshya) and so on. Photographs also shows Lifestyle of women living from lowland to high land with a geographical variation of common women.
